This Privacy Policy applies to our websites, web app, mobile apps, APIs, emails, support services, and any other products or services that link to this policy (collectively, the “Service”).
By using the Service, you acknowledge that we collect, use, disclose, and retain information as described in this policy. If a separate notice is presented for a specific feature, that notice also applies to your use of that feature.

Information from third parties
We may receive information from service providers and partners, such as payment processors, app stores, email providers, analytics providers, AI providers, authentication providers, cloud infrastructure providers, and other vendors that help us operate the Service. If you use a third-party sign-in, import, sharing, or payment feature, we receive information authorized by that provider and your settings.
2. How We Use Information
We may use information for the following purposes:

- Create aggregated or de-identified information that no longer identifies you, which we may use for any lawful purpose.
We do not use your recipe, photo, memory, or household content to train our own AI models without your permission. When we use third-party AI providers to complete a request you make, we send the information needed for that request and require providers to process it for the requested service, subject to their terms and our agreements.
3. How We Share Information
We may disclose information as described below. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising unless we provide any notice and choices required by law and platform rules.
- Your household and sharing choices: content in a shared household is visible to other household members according to the Service features. If you share, export, invite, publish, or send content, recipients may access the information you choose to share.
- Service providers: we share information with vendors that help us provide hosting, storage, databases, app delivery, analytics, diagnostics, email, support, payment processing, security, AI/OCR processing, push notifications, and other operational services.
- Payment and app platform providers: billing, subscription, purchase, app distribution, crash, diagnostics, and review-related information may be processed by payment processors, Apple, Google, Expo, and similar platform providers.
- Legal and safety reasons: we may disclose information if we believe it is required by law, legal process, regulation, or governmental request, or if disclosure is appropriate to protect rights, property, safety, security, or the integrity of the Service.
- Business transfers: information may be disclosed or transferred in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, sale of assets, or similar transaction.
- With your consent: we may share information when you direct us to do so or otherwise consent.
4. Cookies, Analytics, and Tracking
We use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, secure the Service, understand performance, improve features, and measure usage. You can configure your browser to block or delete cookies, but some parts of the Service may not work correctly.
Our mobile apps may use platform-provided identifiers, push tokens, local device storage, diagnostics, and analytics tools needed to operate and improve the app. If we introduce tracking that requires permission under Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework or similar rules, the app will request that permission before such tracking.
5. Photos, Camera, Notifications, and Device Permissions
The mobile app may request access to the camera, photo library, notifications, and other device features. We use these permissions only when needed for app features such as scanning recipe cards, attaching photos, adding memories, uploading recipe images, sending notifications, or improving the app experience. You can change permissions in your device settings, though disabling a permission may limit related features.
6. Data Retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Service, keep your account active, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, maintain security, prevent fraud or abuse, enforce agreements, and support legitimate business purposes. Retention periods vary depending on the type of information, account status, feature, legal requirements, and operational needs.
If you delete your account, we will delete, de-identify, or otherwise handle your personal information and content according to your choices, our account deletion flow, legal requirements, and backup practices. Some information may remain for a limited time in backups, logs, transaction records, security records, support records, or where retention is legally or operationally necessary.
7. Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, including access controls, encryption in transit, password hashing, secure token handling, monitoring, and vendor controls. No internet service can guarantee absolute security, and you are responsible for keeping your credentials secure.
8. International Transfers
We are based in the United States, and information may be processed in the United States and other countries where we or our providers operate. These countries may have data protection laws different from those where you live.
9. Your Choices and Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing of your personal information. You may also opt out of marketing emails, control push notifications, change device permissions, leave a household, delete content, or delete your account using available Service features.
To make a privacy request, contact us at admin@recipesweshare.com. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request. Some requests may be limited by legal, security, operational, or rights-protection reasons.
10. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so we can review and take appropriate action.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date above. If we make material changes, we may provide additional notice as appropriate, such as by email, in-app notice, or website notice.
